A couple quick updates:
First, Henry Jenkins has begun posting an interview I did with him about my book and videographic criticism at his website. You can find it here. Henry has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and a professional hero since I was an undergrad and asked to read his piece on the WWF, so I’m pretty proud of how it went.
Secondly, during the SCMS conference, Jason Mittell called to order the first meeting of the Digital Humanities and Videographic Criticism Scholarly Interest Group (SIG). We held our first meeting and I was voted in as co-chair along with Jasmijn Van Gorp. You can follow the Facebook page for upcoming discussions, links, events, and more (including a link to the newest issue of [in]Transition). Stay tuned for more as we start our discussions for next year’s Toronto conference, but a big thanks to Jason for getting the ball rolling!
Third, I have a couple quick speaking event announcements. First, I’ll be speaking at Texas Christian University’s Careers in Media Conference on March 31st alongside Tom Schatz and Jacqueline Vickery. It’s in Dallas, so if you’re looking for something closer to home, I’ll be heading up a double-header of a PLACE talk on #OscarssoWhite and a book club discussion of Love and Rockets on April 11th. You can find more information on TAMUT’s website.
